Parts Stop stocks Tyree automotive and trailer cable — single-core, twin-core, 5-core and 7-core, plus battery cable, on 30-metre rolls. On the shelf, ready to go.
Tyree is an Australian electrical manufacturer that goes back to 1946 and engineer Sir William Tyree, and Tyree Cable is the arm that makes the wire. Picking cable comes down to two things: core count and gauge. Core count matches the circuit — single-core for a single feed, twin black/red for a positive-and-negative DC run, and 5-core or 7-core for a trailer wiring loom that has to carry the separate lighting, indicator, brake and earth circuits (7-core is the usual pick for a full trailer plug). Gauge — the millimetre size — needs to suit the current and the length of the run, because thin cable over a long run drops voltage and leaves lights dim or a winch gutless. Battery cable is the heavy stuff for cranking and charge runs. It's on 30m rolls, so buy the length the job needs. Tell us the circuit and the run and we'll point you to the right cable.
